  • Description
  • Torch Coral are some of the most popular coral kept in home aquariums. Torch Coral have long flowing polyps that are a sight to behold when swaying in the current of your reef tank.

    Torch Coral come in a wide range of colors including green, yellow, gold, pink and purple. They have long sweeping polyps that extend out of a hard skeleton. During daylight hours the polyps should be fully exposed and swaying in the current. At night the polyps will retract back into the skeleton.

    Torch Coral are extremely aggressive and will sting any nearby coral. Note that the tentacles of the Torch Coral can extend for many inches and reach corals you might have thought were out of reach. Torch Coral are not super easy to keep, but if provided with good water conditions and trace elements, they should thrive.

    Torch Coral prefer both moderate flow and lighting, and should be able to be placed anywhere in your aquarium, as long as the flow is right and the lighting isn’t too low or intense. If a Torch Coral constantly has it’s polyps retracted, trying placing it somewhere else in the tank and give it a few days to show signs of recovery.
