Not all saltwater fish can be kept in tanks with certain types of fish. There will either be aggression issues, or the fish simply cannot be kept with the other species of fish.
The chart below is a great starting point to see in general which species of saltwater fish can be kept with various other species of fish.
There are exceptions to the rule of course. Two examples are that some
Triggers can be kept with smaller non-aggressive fish, while others are a definite no-no with smaller fish. Also
Tangs can be kept with other Tangs, but sometimes in smaller tanks, Tangs with similar body shapes cannot be kept together.
