Description
Maiden's Hair Algae is a green and very fast growing algae. Maiden's Hair Algae is very stringy and deep green in color. Maiden's Hair Algae often grows in mats that connected to each other. Given time, Maiden's Hair Algae will cover rocks, substrate and even the walls of your aquarium.

While not desirable in display tanks since Maiden's Hair Algae will eventually overtake the tank, Maiden's Hair Algae can be popular in refugiums. Maiden's Hair Algae grows at an incredibly fast rate and will consume nitrates and phosphates out of your tank. Maiden's Hair Algae is easy to remove from a refugium since it can be pulled out in clumps. When Maiden's Hair Algae get in your display tank, it is very hard to get rid of. Normally the only means of removal is by hand, using a large clean up crew of snails that enjoy eating it or lowering the nutrients of the tank.

Maiden's Hair Algae will grow at an incredible pace given the right lighting and water flow. Maiden's Hair Algae prefers to have moderate lighting and moderate to high water flow. Having a high level of nutrients through overfeeding will help your Maiden's Hair Algae grow at an even faster rate.
