  • Description
  • The Echinophyllia Chalice is a stunning and fairly easy to care for LPS (Large Polyp Stony) coral. Echinophyllia Chalices generally are encrusting style corals and grow at a slow pace.

Echinophyllia Chalices do best when placed in the bottom to middle of the tank and in areas with moderate water flow and lighting. Echinophyllia Chalice also have the ability to adjust to their environment rather quickly. If you see some signs of your Echinophyllia Chalice being upset when first placed, give it a day or two and see if it has adjusted. If it still looked distressed, try slightly moving it and watch for signs of improvement.

Echinophyllia Chalices do best in tanks with very good water parameters. The better the water quality is, the more success you'll have with Echinophyllia Chalices. Echinophyllia Chalices can be aggressive to neighboring corals with sweeping tentacles. For this reason, you should give some space between Echinophyllia Chalices and neighboring corals.

Echinophyllia Chalices normally do not need additional food, since they get most of their food from the water column. You can try adding baby brine shrimp and cyclopeeze to the tank in evening hours if you want to supplement their diet. Also adding trace elements to the tank will help their growth, this can be done by dosing or by water changes.
