  • The Montipora is a very colorful and popular SPS (Small Polyped Stony) coral. Montipora tend to grow in an incrusting manner along a rock and then will either grow up or out like a ledge off of the rock, sometime they grow both out and upwards. Montipora corals come in many colors and shapes, if you have any questions about our current stock of Montipora coral, just feel free to contact us.

    Montipora corals can be placed anywhere in the tank as long as they have both moderate lighting and flow. After you have placed your Montipora in its desired location wait a few days and look for signs of stress. If you are not seeing good polyp extension, simply move the coral a few inches until you see signs of improvement.

    Montipora corals are peaceful corals and can be placed very close to other peaceful coral. Montiporas should not be placed close to aggressive coral like some LPS coral, since they can become aggravated and retract.

    Montipora corals get most of their nutritional needs from photosynthesis so they don't really require additional food. If you would like to supplement the diet of your Montipora coral, simply feed it in the evening hours with foods like plankton and baby brine shrimp.
