  • Description
  • The Pocillopora Coral is a very colorful and elegant SPS (Small Polyped Stony) coral. Pocillopora Corals tend to be either brown, pink or green in color. Pocillopora Corals grow upwards from a central hard skeleton and have colorful small polyps.

Pocillopora Corals should be placed from the middle to the top of your tank. Pocillopora Corals require both high flow rates and lighting to prosper. Pocillopora Corals will benefit strongly from being placed under strong LED or metal halide lights, just make sure to ramp up the lighting slowly while first introducing one to your tank. After you have placed your Pocillopora Coral, watch for any signs of stress. If you see that the coral is stressed, move it a few inches and watch for better polyp extension.

Pocillopora Corals are peaceful corals and can be placed close to other peaceful coral. Aggressive corals like some LPS species, can cause the Pocillopora Coral to retract and possibly die if aggravated too much, so please take this into account when placing a Pocillopora Coral.

Pocillopora Corals get most of their nutrition through photosynthesis, but if you would like to supplement its diet, you can feed the tank small foods like plankton or baby brine shrimp in the evening hours.
