  • Description
  • The Ruffled Ridge Coral is a stunning and very colorful SPS (Small Polyp Stony) coral. Ruffled Ridge Corals grow out from a central area in fan like growths. As the Ruffled Ridge Coral ages, more growths will occur which end up forming the ridge look. Ruffled Ridge Corals are mostly found in green, ten, red and blue hues.

Ruffled Ridge Corals should be placed at the middle to top of the aquarium and require high lighting and moderate flow rates. After you have placed your Ruffled Ridge Coral, watch for any signs of stress. If you see that the Ruffled Ridge Coral is stressed, simply move the coral a few inches and watch for improvement. When adding a Ruffled Ridge Coral to a new tank, make sure the acclimate it to the lighting of your tank over a few days. If you place a new Ruffled Ridge Coral directly under a strong light with no acclimation, you can end up killing it.

Ruffled Ridge Corals are semi-aggressive corals and should not be placed too close to other corals. Ruffled Ridge Corals can sting nearby corals and cause them to recede. Take this into consideration when placing a Ruffled Ridge Coral in your tank and also give it space to grow.

Ruffled Ridge Corals will get most of their nutrition through photosynthesis and filter feeding. You can supplement the diet of the Ruffled Ridge Coral by feeding the tank meaty small foods like baby brine shrimp and plankton in the evening hours. It is also important to add trace elements back to the tank through either water changes or by dosing.
