  • Description
  • The Spiny Cup Coral is a very interesting and beautiful stony coral. Spiny Cup Coral tend to grow in a folded over outward pattern resembling a cabbage, hence its nickname.

Spiny Cup Corals can be placed anywhere in the tank, but need moderate water flow and lighting. After you place your Spiny Cup Coral, watch for signs of stress after a few days. If you think the Spiny Cup Coral isn't happy, simply move it a few inches until you see better polyp extension over a few days.

Spiny Cup Corals are very peaceful coral and can be placed very close to other peaceful corals. Spiny Cup Corals should not be placed by overly aggressive corals, like some LPS species, since they can be damaged severely.

Spiny Cup Corals get most of their nutrition from photosynthesis and do best when placed under strong LEDs or metal halides. You can supplement the diet of a Spiny Cup Coral with plankton or tiny meaty foods fed during the evening hours. Spiny Cup Corals will also benefit from having trace elements added back into the tank from dosing or water changed.
