  • The Declivis Butterflyfish is a stunning and very rare smaller butterflyfish. Declivis Butterflies have a mostly white body with yellow fins and black markings. They also have a yellow stripe over their eyes.

    Declivis Butterflyfish reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and can be kept in takes as small as 90 gallons. Declivis Butterflyfish are mostly peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish or inverts in your tank. In the wild the Declivis Butterflyfish eats coral polyps, feather dusters and anemones. This makes them a bad choice for reef tanks. In fish only tanks with peaceful to semi-aggressive fish, the Declivis Butterflyfish will add a stunning dash of color to your tank.

    Declivis Butterflyfish are only found around Christmas Island, so like the Black Tang also found only in these waters, Declivis Butterflyfish carry a hefty price tag due to the remote area they live in. Declivis Butterflyfish also do best in tanks with lots of hiding places. They are shy fish and need to feel secure in their environment.

    Declivis Butterflyfish are Omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both green and meaty foods. Foods like nori and marine algae sheets, high quality flake foods and mysis and brine shrimp will keep your Declivis Butterflyfish healthy and happy.
