The Leopard Snake Eel is a rarely seen eel from African waters. Leopard Snake Eels have a long and slender tan body with lots of darker brown spots.

Leopard Snake Eels reach a maximum size of around 36 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Leopard Snake Eels are semi-aggressive and should level most other fish and coral alone. Smaller fish and inverts might be on the menu for Leopard Snake Eels, so you must proceed with caution when adding Leopard Snake Eels to a reef tank.

Leopard Snake Eels are mostly nocturnal eels and prefer to eat inverts over fish. Leopard Snake Eels need to be kept in tanks that have a lot of live rock for them to build caves in and take shelter in. Leopard Snake Eels will become very stressed if there is not enough areas for them to conceal their bodies in.

Leopard Snake Eels are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like chunks of fresh seafood such as clams, scallops, shrimp, fish and squid will keep your Leopard Snake Eel healthy and happy. It is best to feed Leopard Snake Eels with feeding tongs, and to put chunks that will fit into their mouths close to their cave.

If you have any questions about the Leopard Snake Eel and if it's the right eel for your tank, please feel free to contact us at any time.
