The Spotted Hawkfish is a rarely seen fish in home aquariums. Spotted Hawkfish are mostly red in color with strong white markings and black spots as well.

Spotted Hawkfish reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons. Spotted Hawkfish are semi-aggressive fish and will only bother smaller fish and some inverts, coral should be fine. For this reason, Spotted Hawkfish can be added to reef tanks but only with caution.

Spotted Hawkfish should only be kept in tanks with tight fitting lids with no holes large enough for them to jump through. Spotted Hawkfish are strong jumpers and rill attempt to escape in tanks with no covers. Spotted Hawkfish are found throughout the Indo-West Pacific region and are a food source for many cultures. Spotted Hawkfish will do best in tanks with plenty of live rock for them to look for small inverts to eat between feedings.

Spotted Hawkfish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and small pieces of fresh seafood will keep your Spotted Hawkfish healthy and happy.
