Hawkfish are generally considered reef safe, but they can eat some smaller fish and invertebrates, meaning that you must proceed with caution if you add a Hawkfish to your reef tank.

Many aquarists consider Hawkfish to be some of the most personable fish you can add into a tank, since they can almost behave like a pet. Since Hawkfish generally don't grow to sizes larger than 6 inches, they are also great canidates for most decent sized tanks.
