  • The Yellow Hawkfish is a stunning and very colorful hawkfish. Yellow Hawkfish have a completely yellow body with some darker makings on it. Yellow Hawkfish have the interesting behavior of walking on their pectoral fins.

    Yellow Hawkfish reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 40 gallons in size. Yellow Hawkfish are semi-aggressive fish, but shouldn't bother too many other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. Yellow Hawkfish might go after very small fish and some inverts as well. For these reasons, you must proceed with caution if adding a Yellow Hawkfish to your reef tank.

    Yellow Hawkfish should be kept in tanks with lots of live rock for them to perch on and watch over the tank. Yellow Hawkfish will also spend a lot of their time looking for small inverts to eat off of the rock. Although not timid fish, Yellow Hawkfish might also like to take shelter in the rock work. Yellow Hawkfish are very active fish and should be out in the open most of the time.

    Yellow Hawkfish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and small pieces of fresh seafood should keep your Yellow Hawkfish healthy and happy.
