  • The Dusky Jawfish is an interesting and unique reef safe fish that you can add to your aquarium. The Dusky Jawfish is brown in color with various white and black spots along its body.

    Dusky Jawfish can grow up to 5 inches and need to be housed in an aquarium of at least 29 gallons. The Dusky Jawfish is also known as a jumper and needs a tank with a tight fitting lid with no holes big enough for it to jump through if spooked. If you are keeping a Dusky Jawfish, you need to have sand for it to borrow in and also some bigger substrate for it to look for food in.

    Dusky Jawfish are considered reef safe and should not bother other fish, coral or inverts. It is a better idea to keep Dusky Jawfish with non-aggressive fish though, since it may not be able to defend itself well from more aggressive fish. In smaller tanks, you should not keep multiple Dusky Jawfish together or they can become territorial and aggressive to each other.

    The Dusky Jawfish is a carnivore and needs a diet rich in meaty foods. You should offer foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, meaty frozen foods and feeder shrimp to keep them healthy and flourish in your tank.
