The Bat Stingray is one of the most well known and majestic of all the large stingrays. If you are experienced enough and have a truly large aquarium, the Bat Stingray can be a true showpiece addition.

Bat Stingrays can reach sizes of 71 inches and larger. Given their extremely large size, Bat Stingrays need to be kept in an aquarium no smaller than 750 gallons. It is best for Bat Stingrays to be kept in public aquariums and all but the largest home aquariums to be fair to the fish. Given their tank size requirements, Bat Stingrays are for only the expert aquarists.

Bat Stingrays need a tank with a deep and soft sand bed to avoid any abrasions that might lead to infections. Bat Stingrays are carnivores and feed on meaty foods. It is best for Bat Stingrays to eat on live feeder fish and shrimp. Over time they can be adjusted to eating prepared marine food like clams, scallops, shrimp and chucks of fresh marine fish.

If you can provide the adequate aquarium, Bat Stingrays can be an amazing addition to your aquarium. Please just make sure that your tank is large enough to suit one, and it will be housed with only larger tank mates.
