  • Description
  • The Striped Sweetlips is a stunning and very large sweetlips. Striped Sweetlips have a mostly white body with strong horizontal black stripes and yellow highlights on their fines and face. Striped Sweetlips tend to get more dark in color as they age as well, losing a lot of their bright juvenile coloration.

Striped Sweetlips reach a maximum adult size of around 40 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 500 gallons when they are adults. Striped Sweetlips are semi-aggressive fish and shouldn't bother many other larger fish species. Striped Sweetlips will eat smaller fish when they are mature and will also eat most inverts they can find. For this reason, the Striped Sweetlips is a bad choice to add to reef tanks.

In larger fish only tanks with large peaceful to semi-aggressive fish, the Striped Sweetlips can be a great showpiece addition to your tank. Striped Sweetlips might need many hiding places if kept with more aggressive fish though, which can easily be achieved by using lots of live rock in the tank.

Striped Sweetlips are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. As juveniles, foods like mysis and brine shrimp as well as high quality meaty frozen foods will keep your Striped Sweetlips healthy and happy. As your Striped Sweetlips grows and matures it'll require more substantial foods like chunks of fresh seafood to thrive.
