The Gold Heart Trigger is one of the rarest and most beautiful of all the triggerfish. Gold Heart Triggers have a mostly tan body with various black and blue spots and markings on their gorgeous bodies. Gold Heart Triggers also have a large golden spot over their hearts, hence the name.

Gold Heart Triggers reach a maximum size of around 24 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 10 gallons in size. Gold Heart Triggers are known for being aggressive fish and shouldn’t be kept with small fish and some inverts, since they might attack them. Gold Heart Triggers do the best when in large FOWLR tanks with other aggressive larger fish like puffers, triggers and eels.

Gold Heart Triggers love being in tanks with lots of live rock for them to hide in if they feel threatened. Also Gold Heart Triggers make an interesting grunting sound, which should be audible outside of the tank.

Gold Heart Triggers are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods such as mysis shrimp, feeder shrimp and chunks of fresh high quality seafood like squid, clams, scallops and shrimp will keep your Gold Heart Trigger healthy and happy.

If you have a tank large enough to house a Gold Heart Trigger, it can be a truly stunning showpiece fish in your system. If you have any questions about the Gold Heart Trigger and if it’s the right fish for your tank, please feel free to contact us at any time.
