  • Description
  • Nassarius Sand Snail is one of our favorite members of a tank’s clean up crew. Nassarius Sand Snails do just about everything you could ask of from a tank janitor. Every tank we setup personally always has a host of Nassarius Sand Snails.

Nassarius Sand Snails reach a maximum size of around 1 inch and can be kept in tanks as small as 10 gallons. Nassarius Sand Snails are very peaceful snails and will not bother any coral, fish or other inverts in a reef tank. Nassarius Sand Snails prefer to have a decent depth sand bed that they can burrow in.

Nassarius Sand Snails are amazing scavengers. They will eat just about anything they can find in your tank, including detritus, fish waste, organics and leftover food. If there is not enough food to keep your Nassarius Sand Snails happy, you can just increase the amount of food you feed the tank. Nassarius Sand Snails also aerate your substrate when they burrow under the sand. Often you will see their siphon sticking out of the sand while the rest of their body stays hidden.

Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions about the Nassarius Sand Snail and if it’s the right snail for your tank.
