The Double Tile Star is a very interesting and beautiful starfish. Double Tile Starfish have a thick yellow body with five short arms extending out of it. Double Tile Stars also have a very unique tile like pattern on their body, hence their name.

Double Tile Starfish reach a maximum size of just under 3 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 20 gallons in size. Double Tile Starfish are peaceful starfish and will not bother other inverts, coral or fish. Double Tile Starfish might eat some of the smallest inverts and also sponges, so please take caution when adding a Double Tile Star to your reef tank.

Double Tile Starfish will do best when placed in an aquarium with lots of live rock for them to hide in during the day and eat algae and tiny inverts off of in the evening and night time hours. Double Tile Starfish are very sensitive to bad water quality and also cannot be exposed to the air. Double Tile Stars need to be acclimated over a very long period of around two hours as well.

Double Tile Starfish should never be kept with aggressive larger fish that like to eat inverts like triggers or puffers as well. Double Tile Starfish are omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both meaty and green foods. For the most part Double Tile Stars will get most of their needed nutrition from your tank. Adding small foods like mysis and brine shrimp as well as high quality flake and frozen foods should help supplement the diet of your Double Tile Star.

If you have any questions about the Double Tile Star and if it's the right starfish for your tank, please feel to contact us at any time.
