  • Description
  • The Brittle Starfish is a very interesting and unique starfish. Brittle Starfish have a round central disc and have five long and skinny arms that extend from its center. Brittle Starfish have lots of spines covering their long arms. Brittle Stars come in a host of colors, so make sure that you select the color you desire when adding a Brittle Starfish to your cart.

Brittle Starfish reach a maximum adult size of around 11 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 20 gallons in size. Brittle Starfish are semi-aggressive starfish, but shouldn't bother most other inverts, coral or fish in your tank. This makes the Brittle Starfish a great addition to a reef tank.

Brittle Starfish should be kept in tanks with lots of live rock for them to hide in during the day and to find leftover foods on during the evening and night time hours when they are most active. Brittle Starfish will spend most of their time going around the tank looking for leftover foods and detritus. This makes the Brittle Starfish a great addition to your clean up crew.

Brittle Starfish are omnivores and need a diet that is rich in both meaty and green foods. Most of their nutrition will come from what they can find in the tank, but if you'd like to supplement their diet, you can add foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods and small pieces of fresh seafood to the tank.
