  • Description
  • The White Sand Star is a unique and elegant starfish. White Sand Stars have a mostly white body with darker tan markings on its arms.

White Sand Stars reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons. White Sand Stars are semi-aggressive but shouldn't bother most fish, coral or inverts. White Sand Stars can go after some smaller inverts, so please take that into consideration when adding a White Sand Star to your reef tank.

White Sand Stars should not be kept with overly aggressive fish like triggers and puffers that like to eat inverts. It's better for White Sand Starfish to be kept in tanks with lots of live rock for them to hide in during the day. White Sand Starfish require a lengthy acclimation period of at least two hours and cannot be exposed to the air.

White Sand Starfish are omnivores and require a diet that is high in both meaty and green foods. White Sand Stars need to be kept in tanks with lots of algae and tiny inverts for them to find and eat. You can try to supplement a White Sand Starfish diet with foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods.
