  • Description
  • The Gorgonian is a stunning and very unique coral to add to your reef tank. Gorgonians come in a host of bright colors and grow in a trees like branching pattern, especially looking tree like with retracted polyps. Since Gorgonians come in some many colors, please make sure that you select the color you desire when adding one to your cart.

Gorgonians can be placed anywhere in your tank if they get moderate lighting and moderate to high water flow. After you have placed your Gorgonian, watch for any signs of stress. If you see any stress, just move your Gorgonian slightly until you see better polyp extension. Gorgonians really prefer to have lots of intense light and random flow. These cultured Gorgonians will also do better in your tank versus their wild counterparts.

Gorgonians are semi-aggressive coral, but will hardly ever bother a neighboring coral. It is advised to keep Gorgonians away from overly aggressive coral species that will sting them. Also remember Gorgonians can get rather large, so please give them room to grow.

Gorgonians will get most of their nutrition from photosynthesis and also from filter feeding the water column. If you would like to supplement their diet, you can add small meaty foods to the tank in the evening hours like mysis and baby brine shrimp and micro-plankton. Adding trace elements back to the tank through either dosing or water changes will also help your Gorgonian thrive.

If you have any questions about the Gorgonian and if it's the right coral for your tank, please feel free to contact us at any time.
