  • Description
  • The Frogspawn Coral is one of the most popular of all the LPS (Large Polyp Stony) corals. Frogspawn Coral tend to be mostly green with pink or purple tips. The mass of large polyps resembles frog eggs, hence the name.

Frogspawn Coral has a hard skeleton and large green polyps with purple or pink tips that will extend out of its skeleton and retract back into the skeleton when bothered. Frogspawn Coral are good corals for the intermediate to advanced aquarist, requiring a little more skill than beginners posses. Frogspawn Coral can be placed pretty much anywhere in the tank and need both moderate flow rates and lighting. If your Frogspawn seems to be retracted more often than not, try moving it slightly until it finds a position it enjoys.

Frogspawn Coral are aggressive coral and will send out long tentacles at night that will sting neighboring corals. For this reason, make sure there is plenty of room between Frogspawn Coral and its nearest neighbor.

Frogspawn Corals get most of their nutrition from photosynthesis, but can benefit from food in the water column as well. Adding little pieces of mysis or baby brine shrimp to late evening feedings will help your Frogspawn grown and thrive.
