  • Description
  • The Tongue Coral is extremely rare to see in home aquariums. Tongue Coral are mostly found in the Indo-Pacific Ocean and are long corals that kind of resemble a tongue. Tongue Corals are mostly flat and come in green and tan colors. Tongue Coral will sometimes fork and form x and y shapes.

Tongue Corals like to be placed at the bottom of the tank and like moderate water flow and moderate to high lighting. Once you have placed your Tongue Coral, check to see after a day or two if it shows any signs of stress. If signs of stress are seen, just move your Tongue Coral slightly until you find a position that it seems happy in.

Tongue Corals are semi-aggressive corals and shouldn't be placed too close to their neighbors. Tongue Corals have long tentacles that come out at night and can sting other nearby corals. When placing your Tongue Coral, make sure to keep the fact that they can sting neighbors in mind.

Tongue Corals will benefit from having additional feedings of meaty foods to the tank in the evening hours. Foods like mysis and baby brine shrimp as well as micro-plankton will keep your Tongue Corals happy and healthy. Also adding trace elements back into the tank with water changes or dosing should help extremely.
