  • Description
  • The Golden Angelfish is a very hard to find and sought after angel, making it very desirable in the aquarium hobby. The Golden Angel has a stunning burnt orange and red body with some vertical striping.

    The Golden Angelfish only reaches a maximum size of 4 inches, so it can be kept in aquariums as small as 55 gallons. Although not very large, it is advisable to only keep one dwarf angel in your tank since they can be very territorial and aggressive to similar species.

    Even though the Golden Angelfish is small and very colorful, it often isn’t the best bet to keep in a reef aquarium, since they have been known to nip at and pick at hard and soft corals, including Xenia. Golden Angels have been kept successfully in reef tanks, but it’s really up to the individual fish.

    The Golden Angelfish can be difficult to keep, since they are relatively shy and need to be housed with somewhat peaceful tankmates. Having lots of rock for the Golden Angelfish to graze on and also hide in will help it adjust to life in a tank. Their diet should consist of sponges, algae and mysis shrimp.
