  • Description
  • The Half Black Angelfish is a stunning angel based on the heavy contrast in color from the front half to the back half of its body. The front of the Half Black Angel is a silvery white with a bright orange eye and markings along its gills. The back half of the Half Black Angel is midnight black with stunning blue highlights on its fins.

    The Half Black Angelfish is a relatively small dwarf angelfish with a maximum adult size of 4 inches. The Half Black Angel can be kept in an aquarium as small as 55 gallons, but should be kept as the only dwarf angelfish, since it can be aggressive to other similar species. Also caution should be taken when adding a Half Black Angel to your reef tank, since they can nip and pick at soft and hard corals, as well as Zoas and clams. Half Black Angels have been kept successfully in reef tanks, but it’s really up to the individual fish.

    The Half Black Angelfish will thrive if given proper diet and lots of rock. With enough rock the Half Black Angel will have algae to graze on and places to hide when spooked. The diet of the Half Black Angelfish should consist of Spirulina, mysis shrimp and algae, similar to what other omnivore angelfish would expect.
