  • Description
  • Black Anglers are a very unique and odd looking fish you can add to your aquarium. The Black Angler will provide an interesting talking piece in your tank.

Black Anglers can really be a host of colors and will adjust colors to best suit their environment. It is also common for Black Anglers to have various white markings on their bodies. Black Anglers range in color from pink to red, brown, yellow and even black. They reach a maximum size of around 15 inches and should be kept in tanks of at least 55 gallons. They can be kept in smaller tanks, since they are not active swimmers.

You should take caution when adding a Black Angler to your reef tank, since it can pick on smaller fish and inverts. Black Anglers can eat anything up to the size of their body. They will not bother coral though.

Being carnivores, Black Anglers require a diet heavy in meaty foods. Foods like live feeder shrimp should be used as the Black Angler is getting used to life in an aquarium. Over time you can most to high quality pieces of fresh and frozen seafood.
