  • Description
  • The Huchtii Anthias in an interesting and larger anthias species. Huchtii Anthias are mostly light gray in color and have yellow and orange markings on their fins. The distinguishing trait of the Huchtii Anthias is the long orange streak behind their eyes.

    Huchtii Anthias reach a maximum adult size of around 4 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons in size. Huchtii Anthias are semi-aggressive fish and might be aggressive to other anthias. Other fish, coral and inverts should be left alone by the Huchtii Anthias, making it a great choice for reef tanks.

    Huchtii Anthias are best kept in small groups of one male and several females, or numerous females. With the lack of a male, the dominant female will turn male. Having multiple male Huchtii Anthias in the same tank will lead to aggression issues. Huchtii Anthias are very active fish and will be out in the open for most of the day. It is important to have some live rock in the tank for them to hide in if they feel spooked.

    Huchtii Anthias are carnivores and require a diet that is very rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will keep your Huchtii Anthias healthy and thriving. It is also recommended that you feed them at least two small meals a day.
