  • Description
  • The Japanese Sacura Anthias is an extremely rare and not often seen anthias in home aquariums. Japanese Sacura Anthias live in the deeper waters off of Japan. They have a mostly reddish pink body with various white markings. The male Japanese Sacura Anthias tends to be a little more colorful than females as well.

Japanese Sacura Anthias reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Japanese Sacura Anthias are semi-aggressive fish that will get along with most other fish, coral and inverts. This makes them a great fish for reef tanks. Male Japanese Sacura Anthias will be aggressive towards other males, so it is best to keep a group of Japanese Sacura Anthias that is made up of all females or one male with multiple females.

Japanese Sacura Anthias are very active fish and will spend most of the time out in the open swimming around. They can be a little shy and don't really like strong lights found in reef tanks, so it's a good idea to provide hiding areas made out of live rock for your Japanese Sacura Anthias.

Japanese Sacura Anthias are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality flake and pellet foods and high quality meaty frozen foods will keep your Japanese Sacura Anthias healthy and happy. It is also strongly recommended that you feed your Japanese Sacura Anthias multiple small meals a day instead of one larger meal.
