  • Description
  • The Pictilis Anthias is a stunning and super colorful Anthias found in the Pacific Ocean. Pictilis Anthias have a mostly pink body with yellow highlights fading to the back of their body. Male Pictilis Anthias tend to be brighter colored than females and tend to not have the yellow coloration.

Pictilis Anthias reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 120 gallons in size. Pictilis Anthias are mostly peaceful fish and should get along with most other fish, coral and inverts in your tank. This makes them a great addition to most reef tanks. Pictilis Anthias start life as females and with the lack of a male, the dominant female in the group will turn male. Multiple male Pictilis Anthias should not be kept together since they will become aggressive towards each other.

Pictilis Anthias do great in small groups of all females or one male with multiple females. In tanks Pictilis Anthias tend to stay together in groups and will add a lot of movement and color to your tank. Pictilis Anthias are a deeper water species of Anthias tend to be better in tanks that have cooler water. Pictilis Anthias will also benefit from having lots of areas to take shelter from bright lighting found in our tanks.

Pictilis Anthias are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and flake and pellet foods will keep your Pictilis Anthias healthy and happy. Also being such active fish, Pictilis Anthias need to be feed small meals multiple times a day as opposed to one large meal a day.
