  • Description
  • The Ventralis Anthias is considered the grail fish amongst all Anthias species. This exotic species is extremely hard to find and one of the most rare Anthias.

Ventralis Anthias are known for their extremely bright colors consisting of pinks, purples, yellows and reds. Ventralis Anthias are found in very deep waters and this makes them a slightly harder fish to get used to aquarium life. They are typically shy slightly delicate and should not be kept by novice aquarists. Ventralis Anthias do best in tanks around 90 gallons with many hiding places to allow them to get accustomed to their new homes.

As with a lot of Anthias species it is best to only keep one male Ventralis Anthias in a tank with multiple females. Tanks housing two male Ventralis Anthias will likely have aggression issues. Otherwise Ventralis Anthias should be docile towards other fish tankmates, they will not bother inverts or coral found in reef tanks either. This all makes Ventralis Anthias great additions to reef tanks.

Ventralis Anthias are very active fish and require more than one feeding a day. Most of their food will be taken out of the water column and do best when offered zooplankton and other small meaty foods. As Ventralis Anthias get more used to their captive environments they will start to take more normal prepared foods like pellets and flakes. Having your lights on a lower level for a few weeks will introducing Ventralis Anthias to your tank will help tremendously with their introduction to your tank.
