The Macneill's Assessor Basslet is a fairly rare and striking basslet. Macneill's Assessor Basslets have a mostly deep blue body which fades to black along its fins.

Macneill's Assessor Basslets reach a maximum size of around 3 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 29 gallons in size. Macneill's Assessor Basslets are mostly peaceful fish, but can be very aggressive to other Macneill's Assessor Basslets. In smaller tanks it is recommended that you only keep one Macneill's Assessor Basslet per tank.

Macneill's Assessor Basslets will do the best when in tanks with lots of live rock for them to hide in. Macneill's Assessor Basslets will also get territorial to their preferred hiding spaces. Macneill's Assessor Basslets will often pick at small inverts in the rock work between feedings.

Macneill's Assessor Basslets are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, small chunks of fresh seafood and high quality meaty frozen foods, should keep your Macneill's Assessor Basslet healthy and thriving.
