The Swales Basslet is a small and pretty reef safe fish. Swales Basslet have a long slender body that is mostly orange with long horizontal white stripes. The Swales Basslet also have two large black eye spots on their fins.

Swales Basslets reach a maximum adult size of around 3 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 10 gallons in size. Swales Basslets are pretty peaceful fish and will not bother other fish, coral or inverts found in reef tanks. Swales Basslets will only sometimes go after smaller shrimp.

Swales Basslet do the best in aquariums that have lots of live rock present in the tank. The live rock will give the Swales Basslet places to hide when it feels threatened and also little invertebrates that it can eat between feedings.

Swales Basslets are carnivores and need a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen meaty foods and small pieces of fresh seafood like fish or squid will keep your Swales Basslet healthy and happy.

If you have any questions about the Swales Basslet and if it’s the right fish for your tank, please feel free to contact us.
