  • Boxfish are stunning and large fish that can add very unique character to your tank. Boxfish can reach well over a foot in size, and need a large aquarium to thrive.

    Boxfish get their name from their interesting boxed shaped square bodies. While peaceful, Boxfish are somewhat hard to keep, since when stressed they can release a toxic substance into the water that can kill other fish and crash your system. So it is recommended that only expect attempt to keep Boxfish.

    Boxfish can be kept in reef tanks, but you must proceed with caution, since Boxfish have been known to bother some coral and eat some invertebrates. We provide as much detail as possible on each species of Boxfish, to help you choose the right Boxfish for your system.
