  • The Banded Butterflyfish is a very cute and active butterfly. Banded Butterflyfish have a mostly white body with strong black vertical stripes.

    Banded Butterflies reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Banded Butterflyfish are peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish in your tank. Banded Butterflies will eat a lot of types of coral and inverts, making them a bad choice to add to reef tanks.

    In peaceful larger FOWLR (Fish only with live rock) tanks, Banded Butterflyfish can be a great addition adding lots of movement to your tank. Banded Butterflies are also great to keep in small groups. Banded Butterflyfish should be kept in tanks with a lot of live rock for them to hide in if feel threatened and also to pick small inverts off of between feedings.

    Banded Butterflyfish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and small pieces of fresh seafood. These foods should help your Banded Butterflyfish thrive and stay healthy.
