  • The Pajama Cardinalfish are a very cute and playful addition to your aquarium. With its body covered in red dots, the back half of the Pajama Cardinal resembles pajama bottoms.

    The Pajama Cardinal only reaches a full grown size of 3 inches, so it can be housed in tanks as small as 29 gallons. Pajama Cardinalfish should not be kept in large groups, since normally the dominate pair or trio will be very aggressive to the other cardinals in the group. The Pajama Cardinal is considered to be reef safe since they will not pick or nip at corals or inverts.

    The Pajama Cardinal is an easy to keep fish and great for beginners. We added a trio of Pajama Cardinals to our 500 gallon reef tank as the first inhabitants and they did perfectly. It is important in higher flow tanks to provide places for the Pajama Cardinalfish to take shelter, since they are not the best swimmers. Pajama Cardinals should not be housed with overly aggressive tank mates either. The Pajama Cardinalfish are also nocturnal, so they provide some movement in your tank at night.

    The Pajama Cardinalfish are carnivores and need a good balance of meaty foods to thrive. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, bloodworms and flake food are great to help your Pajama Cardinalfish stay healthy.
