  • The Threadfin Cardinalfish is a great small addition to your tank. The Threadfin Cardinal is a tiny cardinal which does great in larger groups in reef aquariums.

    Since the Threadfin Cardinalfish only reaches a maximum size of 2 inches, they can do well in aquariums as small as 10 gallons. In large tanks, large groups of Threadfin Cardinals can be kept together without much aggression. Plenty of rock should be provided in tanks with semi-aggressive to aggressive tank mates, so there are places for Threadfin Cardinals to hide if they feel threatened.

    The Threadfin Cardinalfish has a mostly transparent body with some blue and yellow markings on it. The Threadfin Cardinals also have a big black eye. The Threadfin Cardinalfish has been known to hide in grasses and urchins as well to stay away from predators.

    The Threadfin Cardinalfish is a carnivore, so it needs a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, pellets and flake foods will really help a Threadfin Cardinalfish thrive in your tank with the right tank environment.
