  • The Bluefin Damsel is an interesting and rarely seen damsel. Bluefin Damsels start life as a brightly colored fish with a white body and bright yellow upper half. As the Bluefin Damsel ages, it comes nearly completely black.

    Bluefin Damsel reach a maximum adult size of around 7 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 29 gallons. Bluefin Damsel are aggressive fish and will go after smaller to similar sized fish that venture into its territory. To get past this aspect of aggression, it is advised to add a Bluefin Damsel either last to your tank, or just house them in larger tanks.

    Bluefin Damsels are very adventurous fish and will venture all over the tank throughout the day. They will however spend most of their time in their claimed territory. It is also advised to house a Bluefin Damsel in a tank with lots of live rock for them to hide in and claim as their territory.

    Bluefin Damsels are omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both meaty and green foods. Bluefin Damsels do best with fed foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods. Bluefin Damsels are aggressive eaters and are not picky about their food.
