  • Description
  • The Black Edge Moray Eel is a rarely seen eel in the aquarium trade. Black Edge Moray Eels are found throughout Caribbean and are a very interesting eel to add to your tank.

Black Edge Moray Eels can grow to just over 24 inches in size and require an aquarium that is at least 125 gallons in size. The Black Edge Moray Eel also needs to be kept in an aquarium that has a very tight fitting hood with no holes small enough for the eel to escape through. The Black Edge Moray Eel is an escape artist and will find any hole small each to escape from.

The Black Edge Moray Eel has a brownish-gold coloration with white spots and a black line running along the top of its body. Black Edge Moray Eels are aggressive and have extremely sharp teeth. Extreme caution should be taken while your hands are in the aquarium anywhere near the eel. If you are bit, you need to seek immediate medical attention for the bite.

Black Edge Moray Eels will eat any fish or invert that it can fit into its mouth. Its eye sight is bad, so it can mistake your hand or any fish for a quick bite, so a word of caution has to be issued before adding a Black Edge Moray Eel to your tank.

Black Edge Moray Eels require a diet full of meaty foods. Fresh seafood chopped into bites it can fit into its mouth are the best. Frozen seafood sometimes contains chemicals which can be bad to the health of a Black Edge Moray Eel, and should be avoided. Putting food at the end of feeding tongs is the best way to feed you Black Edge Moray Eel, which should be fed a few times a week.
