  • Description
  • The Kidako Moray Eel is a super rare and beautiful moray eel. Kidako Moray Eels have a mostly golden yellow body with dark brown vertical stripes and spots.

Kidako Moray Eels reach a maximum size of around 36 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons in size. Kidako Moray Eels are amazing escape artists and need to be kept in tanks with a tight fitting hood and no holes large enough for them to escape through. Kidako Moray Eels are aggressive fish and will attack smaller fish and inverts they can fit in their mouths. For this reason it is not advised to keep Kidako Moray Eels in reef tanks, also their large size can knock coral and rocks over.

Kidako Moray Eels can administer fatal bites to humans, so it is extremely important to make sure you know where your eel is at all times when working in the tank. Kidako Moray Eels require a tank that has plenty of live rock and softer substrate. Kidako Moray Eels will only thrive and stay healthy in tanks with lots of rock for them to make caves in. If your Kidako Moray Eel is exposed, it will soon deteriorate in health.

Kidako Moray Eels are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods such as pieces of fresh seafood like squid, clams, shrimp, fish and scallops cut into sizes that will fit into their mouth will help them grow and thrive. It is best to use feeding tongs to put the food close to the mouth of your Kidako Moray Eel, never use your hands to feed your eel.
