  • The Green Banded Goby is a very colorful and pretty goby. Green Banded Gobies have a mostly green body with a yellow head and red horizontal stripes through their eyes. Green Banded Gobies also have strong yellow vertical stripes through their body.

    Green Banded Gobies reach a maximum adult size of around 2 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 10 gallons in size. Green Banded Gobies have been known to be strong jumpers, so it's important that you keep them in tanks that have a tight fitting lid with no holes large enough for them to jump through if spooked. Green Banded Gobies are very peaceful fish that should get along with the other fish, coral and inverts in your tank. For this reason, Green Banded Gobies are great fish to be kept in reef tanks.

    Green Banded Gobies should not be kept with large overly aggressive fish, since they are not good at defending themselves. Green Banded Gobies tend to do well in mated pairs or small groups, and are ok to keep with other peaceful gobies in even smaller tanks. Green Banded Gobies should be kept in tanks that have a lot of live rock and sand for them to look through during the day for small inverts to eat between feedings.

    Green Banded Gobies are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will keep your Green Banded Goby healthy and happy. Just make sure that the food is small enough to fit inside of their mouths.
