  • The Indigo Hamlet is a stunning and fairly rare fish to find in home aquariums. Indigo Hamlets have a mostly deep blue body with strong white to electric blue vertical stripes along their bodies.

    Indigo Hamlets reach a maximum size around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons in size. Indigo Hamlets are semi-aggressive fish that shouldn't bother too many fish, coral or inverts in your tank. Larger Indigo Hamlets might attack smaller fish and inverts though. For this reason, you must proceed with caution if adding a Indigo Hamlet to your reef tank. Indigo Hamlets can be added as small groups in larger tanks, but it's a good idea to add them at the same time.

    Indigo Hamlets are not extremely shy fish, but will benefit from having lots of live rock in their tank. They will pick at smaller inverts off of the live rock and also hide in the rock work if they feel threatened. Indigo Hamlets are also fairly hardy fish, so they are a pretty good choice for beginning to intermediate aquarists.

    Indigo Hamlets are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and small chunks of fresh seafoods should keep your Indigo Hamlet healthy and happy.
