  • Description
  • The Lyretail Hogfish is a very stunning and colorful hogifsh. Lyretail Hogfish have a reddish orange head and their body is fully white on its rear half. Lyretail Hogfish also have strong yellow and red highlights on their fins. Lyretail Hogfish also have a very long and elegant tail.

Lyretail Hogfish reach a maximum adult size of around 9 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 75 gallons in size. Lyretail Hogfish are semi-aggressive fish when juveniles and get more aggressive as they age. Lyretail Hogfish will eat some inverts along with small fish as they age, for this reason it is suggested that they not be added to reef tanks.

Lyretail Hogfish make an amazing addition to moderate to large fish only tanks. When housed with other semi-aggressive to aggressive fish, Lyretail Hogfish add a nice dash of color and movement to FOWLR tanks.

Lyretail Hogfish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp along with high quality meaty frozen foods will keep your Lyretail Hogfish happy when a juvenile. As your Lyretail Hogfish gets larger it is best to feed them small chunks of fresh seafood.
