The Australian Stripey is a very colorful and active reef fish. Australian Stripeys have a mostly yellow body with strong black horizontal stripes. Australian Stripeys also have a very recognizable angular shaped body.

Australian Stripeys reach a maximum size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 120 gallons. Australian Stripeys are peaceful fish and should not bother other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. For this reason, the Australian Stripey is a great fish to add to reef tanks.

Australian Stripeys will add a lot of movement and color to most tanks. Larger tanks will also benefit from having multiple Australian Stripeys in their tanks, since they tend to school. Australian Stripeys are very peaceful fish, so they should not be kept with large overly aggressive fish. Australian Stripeys will also tend to be out and about in the tank most of the day.

Australian Stripeys are omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both meaty and green foods. Foods like nori or marine algae sheets, high quality flake and pellet foods, high quality frozen foods and mysis and brine shrimp should keep your Australian Stripey healthy and happy.
