  • Description
  • The Striped Shrimpfish is a very interesting and beautiful peaceful fish. Striped Shrimpfish have a mostly silver to white body with a strong black horizontal stripe down the length of their body. Striped Shrimpfish also swim in a very interesting vertical pattern. Our image was rotated to better show the fish.

Striped Shrimpfish reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 40 gallons in size. Striped Shrimpfish are very peaceful fish and should get along great with other peaceful fish, coral and inverts. This makes Striped Shrimpfish a good fish to add to a peaceful reef tank.

Striped Shrimpfish need to be kept with other peaceful eaters. Fish like seahorses and pipefish are great fish to keep with your Striped Shrimpfish. Keeping a Striped Shrimpfish with aggressive fish is not advised, and your Striped Shrimpfish will probably end up not getting the nutrition it needs. Striped Shrimpfish also require lots of live rock in your tank, so they will have lots of places to hide if they feel threatened.

Striped Shrimpfish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, small pieces of fresh seafood and high quality meaty frozen foods will keep your Striped Shrimpfish healthy and happy. Sometimes you might need live foods in your tank to get your Striped Shrimpfish eating at first. Only expert aquarists or those who have had experience with the species before should attempt to keep a Striped Shrimpfish. Having a very mature tank with lots of macro algae and pods will increase your chances for success.
