  • Description
  • The Bicolor Parrotfish is one of the most colorful fish found in the ocean. They start life rather drab in color, being mostly white with a red or orange head. As the Bicolor Parrotfish matures, it starts to develop an extremely colorful body of purples, greens and blues.

Bicolor Parrotfish can reach a fully grown size of nearly three feet, and require an aquarium that is at least 180 gallons in size. Bicolor Parrotfish will normally not reach their fully grown size in aquariums though.

For the most part Bicolor Parrotfish should get along with most other fish. They should only be kept in fish only tanks though. The host of the Bicolor Parrotfish diet comes from eating algae off of coral, making them near to impossible to keep in reef tanks. The waste of eaten coral from the Bicolor Parrotfish is actually sand.

Since it’s very hard to meet the dietary needs of a Bicolor Parrotfish, they are considered hard to keep and should only be kept the most advanced of aquarists with larger tanks.

If you can meet the demanding needs of the Bicolor Parrotfish, they can make an excellent and colorful addition to your fish only tank.
