  • The Janss' Pipefish is a stunning and very elegant pipefish. Janss' Pipefish have a very long and slender body that is brilliant blue in color, with their center half being covered in an orangish-red color.

    Janss' Pipefish reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 50 gallons. Janss' Pipefish are very peaceful and shouldn't bother any other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. They can be kept in reef tanks, but aggressive eating fish will tend to lead health issues with the Janss' Pipefish. Janss' Pipefish can also be killed or injured by some invert found in reef tanks as well. Janss' Pipefish should ideally be kept with extremely peaceful fish like seahorses and dragonets.

    Janss' Pipefish cannot be kept in tanks where the flow rate is too high either, since they are not the best swimmers. Janss' Pipefish are considered very hard to keep fish, since it is very hard to get them to eat and they have a strict set of foods they eat. Janss' Pipefish need to eat live foods such as pods and baby brine shrimp to really thrive and stay healthy.

    Janss' Pipefish are carnivores and need to have a diet that consists of meaty foods. Apart from the live foods listed above, some Janss' Pipefish will also become accustomed to eating prepared foods like cylopeeze, ova and mysis and baby brine shrimp.
