  • The Golden Puffer is a stunning large and beautiful Puffer. Depending on the stage of their life, the Golden Puffer can be either black with white spots of golden with black spots.

    The Golden Puffer can reach an adult size of up to 19 inches, so it needs to be kept in an aquarium that is at least 125 gallons. Golden Puffers are mostly peaceful fish, but shouldn’t be kept with smaller docile fish. Also Golden Puffers will eat inverts that are essential to a healthy reef tank, making them a bad choice for a reef tank.

    Golden Puffers are known for having great personalities in home aquariums. They almost act like a family pet and should recognize you and your family.

    Being carnivores, Golden Puffers require a diet very rich in meaty foods. Larger pieces of crab, shrimp and clam make excellent foods for a Golden Puffer. Also having a lot of live rock in the tank for a Golden Puffer to grind its beak on is essential.

    If you have a larger fish only tank, the Golden Puffer will make a great addition to your tank. It is interesting to see the Golden Puffer change from a dark color to its darker coloration in time as well.
