  • Description
  • The Saddle Valentini Puffer is a small and very cute puffer. Saddle Valentini Puffers have a mostly white body with strong black vertical stripes and spots with a yellow tail.

Saddle Valentini Puffers reach a maximum adult size of around 4 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 29 gallons. Saddle Valentini Puffers are semi-aggressive fish, but should play nice with most fish except maybe the smallest peaceful fish. Saddle Valentini Puffers can eat some inverts though, so if you plan on adding on to your reef tank, you must proceed with caution. They use their beak like teeth to eat inverts.

Saddle Valentini Puffers can inflate their bodies over two times their normal size if they get stressed. This will warn off predators who will be put off by their now larger size. Saddle Valentini Puffers should never be put in a net, since they will inflate, they are best moved in acrylic or plastic containers. Since puffing up in very stressful on the fish, it should never be made to inflate for amusement.

Saddle Valentini Puffers are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp as well as small pieces of fresh seafood and high quality meaty frozen foods will keep your Saddle Valentini Puffer healthy and happy. Also foods with tough shells will keep their teeth ground down.
