  • The Yellow Belly Dogface Puffer is a stunning variant of the Dogface Puffer. The Yellow Belly Dogface Puffer has a mostly light tan body with brilliant yellow fins and belly.

    Yellow Belly Dogface Puffers reach a maximum adult size of around 13 inches and need to be kept in a tank that is at least 90 gallons in size. Yellow Belly Dogface Puffers are semi-aggressive and should be kept with other large semi-aggressive fish. Smaller fish as well as inverts will be on the menu for a larger Yellow Belly Dogface Puffer. For this reason they should not be kept in reef tanks.

    Yellow Belly Dogface Puffers will expand the size of their body by around two times its normal sized if startled. This is extremely stressful on the fish and should never be coaxed for fun. Yellow Belly Dogface Puffers also should never be transferred by a net, since this will also cause them to puff up.

    Yellow Belly Dogface Puffers are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods such as check of fresh seafood like squid, shrimp, crab, fish and clams will help keep your Yellow Belly Dogface Puffer healthy and happy.
